DEVON -- Mayor Jeff Craddock is seeking re-election in the Town of Devon.
Craddock was first elected as Mayor during the 2021 municipal election, and will be seeking a second term on October 20th. Prior to this, he had also served as a Councillor for the township from 1997 to 2007. He talks about what some of his priorities would be if re-elected on October 20th.
"Senior’s housing -- we're almost to the point where we have to find a builder," said Craddock. "We've got so many people; we could fill the building almost instantly. The other one is enforcement."
Craddock first arrived in Devon in 1992 to pursue a career in utilities at Town's Water and Wastewater Plants. During this time, he also joined the Devon Fire Department and began his ongoing relationship with the River of Hope Baptist Church. Professionally, he has past experience in power engineering, project management, and instructing at NAIT for five years.
He says that in his time as Mayor, Devon has seen a significant boost in its regional relevance.
"We worked really hard to put Devon back on the map," said Craddock. "We had been a part of some regional groups that really began to treat us as the little brother -- we weren't making their maps; we weren't in their paperwork -- and we were able to get that changed."
Some of his other goals if re-elected for a second term include ensuring the Town of Devon has sound financial management, while also providing opportunities for public input. Craddock will be up against Blake Adams in the upcoming election. Adams did not respond to our request for an interview.
